Sorry, I have not been keeping this site up to date.
UniNetNews.com has been designed and developed by me, Jan Anderson Hunt, for you the average and extremely busy Web designer.
Through my years of doing Web design and development I am often frustrated with how many different Internet sites, books, articles, and standards I have to read in order to keep up with what is going on in the industry AS IT PERTAINS to a Web designer.
I think it is important that Web designers know what is developing in the world of Web standards and how these developments will affect the way they will need to do their job. There are some fast moving, radical changes being made and unknowledgeable designers and their websites are going to be left behind.
Most Web designers I know WANT to keep up with the new technologies but find it overwhelming, not only because of the magnitude of information but because the standards specifications are not always so easy to understand. To top it off, they are all too busy trying to make a living and raising a family.
It's a kind of a catch 22, how can a Web designer keep up with the industry if they are so busy, yet not keeping up could eventually mean the end of their business because they no longer have the knowledge or skills needed to compete.
UniNetNews is my way of trying to fill that void. After all, I am reading and researching for myself so I thought I would organize my results in a manner that would help other designers. Not only that, but I found that creating this site has an additional bonus for me - I am learning the material much better than I would have had I not had to communicate the information back in writing.
I hope the information I found useful in my life as a Web designer will also be useful to you. Let me know if there is anything you would particularly like to see on the site. I cannot promise to fulfill every request, but if I think the topic is appropriate for the site I will eventually get some information posted.
Happy Designing,
